Effective June 7, 2026 App: Class Stars for iOS

1 Overview

The short version: Class Stars is a fully offline app. It collects no personal data from you, sends nothing to external servers, and does not track anything. All data lives on your device (and optionally your personal iCloud).

Class Stars ("the app", "we", "our") is an iOS application designed to help teachers manage student attendance, points, stars, and exam scores. We are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of the students in your classroom.

This Privacy Policy explains what data the app handles, where it is stored, and how it is — and is not — used.

2 Data We Collect

Class Stars does not collect any data from you. The app does not have a backend server, registration system, or user account.

All information you enter into the app — including student names, attendance records, point transactions, exam scores, and settings — is entered by you and stored exclusively on your device or your personal iCloud account. This includes:

We never see, access, or receive any of this data.

3 Where Data is Stored

All app data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's SwiftData framework. Data files reside in the app's sandboxed Application Support directory, which is not accessible to other apps or to us.

Excel files you export are saved to your device's Files app. Excel files you import are read from your device's Files app. Neither operation transmits data over the internet.

4 iCloud Sync

If you are signed into iCloud on your device and have iCloud enabled for Class Stars, the app will use Apple's CloudKit to sync your data across your personal devices (e.g., iPhone and iPad).

Important: iCloud sync is handled entirely by Apple's infrastructure. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's iCloud privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

You can disable iCloud sync for Class Stars at any time in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Class Stars on your device. If disabled, data remains only on the local device.

5 Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data in the first place. The app has no integrations with advertising networks, analytics platforms, data brokers, or any external service other than Apple's own CloudKit (described above).

We will never sell, rent, or share your data or your students' data with anyone.

6 Tracking & Analytics

Class Stars contains no tracking code, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, and no advertising frameworks. The app does not request permission to track you across other apps and websites (and therefore makes no ATT prompt under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework).

We do not know how often the app is used, which features you use, or any other usage information.

7 Children's Privacy

Class Stars is designed for use by teachers. It is not directed at children, and teachers should not allow students to use or access the app directly.

Student data entered into the app (names, scores, attendance) is managed entirely by the teacher on their own device and is never transmitted to us or any third party. Teachers are responsible for complying with applicable laws — including FERPA (in the US), COPPA, and equivalent regulations in their jurisdiction — when entering student information into any app.

Because we collect no data and have no backend, we have no way to receive or store student information and therefore cannot be a data processor of student records under these laws.

8 Data Deletion

Because all data is stored on your device, you are in full control of deletion:

Since we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.

9 Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of this page and release a new version of the app with the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Because the app collects no data and has no backend, future changes are expected to be minimal.
