During setup you tell Tend your home type, hemisphere, whether your winters freeze, and what your home has (like a furnace, gutters or a pool). It picks the maintenance tasks that apply and spreads them across the year so you're never swamped. Seasonal tasks land in the right season — flipped for the Southern Hemisphere.
To change your answers later, go to Home › tap your home's name. When you add features, Tend offers the matching tasks.
Press and hold the task (or open it) and choose Doesn't Apply to My Home. It's hidden from your plan but kept, so you can restore it from Plan › Hidden Tasks. You can also delete it.
In Plan, tap +. Choose New Task to create your own schedule, or Browse Task Library for dozens more expert tasks with step-by-step instructions.
Seasonal tasks (like "clean gutters in fall") keep their slot, so they're due again next season. Other tasks (like HVAC filters) repeat from the day you actually did them. You can also skip a task once, or snooze it to later.
Yes. Press and hold a due-date notification and choose Mark done or Remind me tomorrow. You can also add the Up Next widget to your Home Screen and tap the circle next to a task, or ask Siri "What's due in Tend?"
Sync is automatic and free. Sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on for Tend on both devices (iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud). On a new device, choose I already use Tend on another device during setup and your homes appear within a few moments.
You can check sync status in Tend › Settings › Sync & Privacy.
Yes. Go to Tend › Settings › Sync & Privacy and switch off iCloud Sync, then close and reopen Tend. That device keeps its own copy and stops sending or receiving changes. Nothing is deleted from iCloud, and turning the switch back on catches up with changes from your other devices. The switch is per device.
Go to Settings › Your Data › Back Up. This creates a single file with everything for that home, including photos and documents. Save it to Files or send it to yourself. To bring it back, use Restore from Backup.
To delete one home and everything in it from all your devices, go to Home › tap your home's name › Delete This Home. To remove everything stored in iCloud, go to iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › Tend. See our privacy policy for details.
A one-time purchase — no subscription — that unlocks the Replacement Forecast with a 5-year budget, the Home Report PDF, the Document Scanner, and multiple homes. Everything else, including iCloud sync and backups, is free.
Go to Settings › Restore Purchase while signed in to the Apple Account you purchased with. Pro is also shared with your Family Sharing group.

Yes — go to Settings › App Icon and pick one of seven designs.
Tend is available in English and Simplified Chinese and follows your device language. To use a different language just for Tend, go to iPhone Settings › Apps › Tend › Language. Tasks keep the language they were created in.
Yes, using iOS itself. On iOS 18 or later, touch and hold the Tend icon on your Home Screen and choose Require Face ID (or Require Passcode). You can also choose Hide and Require Face ID to keep the app out of sight. Tend doesn't have its own lock, so there is nothing extra to set up and it can't lock you out of your data.
On the welcome screen you can choose Explore with sample data to look around a filled-in, fictional home before entering your own. It is never added automatically. To remove it, go to Home › tap the home's name › Delete This Home, then create your own home.
